Teaching objectives:
Teach students to talk about their shopping experience, so that
1. They can talk about the clothes.
2. They can ask about prices.
3. They can communicate with others politely.

Teaching procedure:
1. Lead in
A. Ask students to watch a video clip, and answer where they are and what they are doing. (shopping in the supermarket)
B. Ask students if they like shopping and lead them to see what’s in a shop. And then ask if they want to buy things, what they should say first to lead in the title “Unit 7 How much are these socks?”
2. While-teaching
A. Lead students to do more practice with “How much is / are…?” by answering the teacher’s questions.
B. Ask students if they want to buy things in America, what they use to lead in “dollar”, and teach “one dollar” and “five dollars”.
C. Show pictures one by one and teach the new words (T-shirt, sweater, hat, skirt, shorts, shoes, socks, and trousers.)
D. Finish activity 1a: match the words with the things in the picture.
E. Finish activity 1b: listen and circle the things in 1a. And list the sentences in the conversation. (Once)
F. Pair-work: ask students to make a conversation with their partners to practice “How much is / are…? It’s / They’re…”
G. Finish activity 2b: listen and circle the things. And listen again to fill in the price tags. (Twice)
H. Explain the order of adjectives “size+color+n.” and check the answers by making a conversation together.
3. After-teaching
A. Play a game: ask students to answer questions when the dial stops to practice “How much is / are…? It’s / They’re…”
B. Group-work:
a. ask students to finish a conversation first.
b. ask students to work in a group and use the sentences “how much is /are…?” to make their own conversations with group members.
4. Summary
Make a summary of the words of clothes and the sentences “How much is/ are…? It’s/ They’re…”
5. Homework
A. Learn the words by heart.
B. Write a conversation with “How much is/ are…?”

Unit 7 How much are these socks?
How much is this hat? It’s six dollars.
How much are these shorts? They’re eight dollars.
